Pinch of Cumin

Cold cream of cantaloupe melon

After the extremely hot temperatures I have had these days in Madrid, just came to my mind those summer days that I spent in the village of my parents eating watermelon and melon almost in every meal so that we mitigate a bit the heat. We did not eat it only as it is, as a dessert, but also there were varied dishes made with these two fruits that remind me to summer vacation.

Today I bring you one of these refreshing recipes with which you can make more bearable those extreme temperatures that are coming ahead, so that you can also refresh yourself inside. If you are a fan of cold creams, do not hesitate it, it takes only a moment to prepare it and it does not have any mystery, as tasty as easy to do.

It’s almost here… Happy summer!

Ingredients for 2 people

1/2 Cantaloupe melon
100 ml of liquid cream
1 slice of Serrano ham (I have used Iberic)
salt and pepper
spiced croutons and cumin to decorate (optional)

Clean and peel melon to get rid of its seeds.

Cut it into small cubes and crush it together with the liquid cream. Season with salt and pepper and let it rest into the fridge so that it does not get warm.

Heat the slice of Serrano ham in the oven or microwave until crunchy.

Serve the cream, and when ham is cool, crumble it and sprinkle on top of the cream.

Decorate it with cumin and croutons (you can also decorate it with any other ingredient you can think about).

To be considered

It’s ideal for those really hot days, very refreshing and with very low calories.

In this case I have cooked it with Cantaloupe melon, and the result is a bit orange.  You can also cook it with other melon types (among the most known ones, toad skin, yellow, galia, honey dew or charentais), or also you can mix different types to get different tonalities.
