Cinnamon apple compote dessert
Here I bring you another recipe of the “impossible to be easier” league, done with the fruit of the most cultivated tree of the planet: the apple. Who has not hear about… eat an apple in the morning, it is super healthy. And it is that its richness in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals makes it one of the most beneficial fruits for your health, available the whole year.
In Spain its consumption is not as promoted as it is in other countries, where they have a huge variety of derivative products from the apple, that they eat in a daily basis (juices, refreshing drinks, sauces, jelly, etc.). And they also have representative sayings such as… An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Given those nutritional and therapeutic properties, and also given that it will not be more than half an hour to prepare this easy dessert, today’s recipe seems to be a 2×1 deal. Take advantage of it!
Ingredients for 2 people
2 medium size apples (I have used starking)
1 glass of water
1 tablespoon of white sugar
1 stick of cinnamon
Grinded cinnamon to decorate (optional)
Directions
Peel apples and cut them into medium size pieces.
Put them in a saucepan together with water and cinnamon stick and heat it until it boils.
When it is boiling, add sugar and stir a few times. Cover it with a lid and simmer it to low heat for around 20-25 minutes (until apple is soft).
To be considered
You can replace white sugar with brown sugar and cinnamon stick with vanilla.
Do not forget to cut apples right before boiling them so that they do not oxidize.
You can also grind the apple up at the end, when it is soft, so that it is a real compote.
